On the transactional side, the Firm has a commercial and residential real estate practice representing institutional lenders, corporate and other business organizations, and individuals. The Firm represents numerous lending institutions and private clients in a vast array of real estate transactions including purchases, and refinances of both commercial and residential transactions. On the commercial lending side, the Firm works with banks, private lenders, and business entities of virtually every nature to facilitate these transactions. The Firm provides clients with the advice and guidance necessary to obtain the results the clients seek, including creating such security and other instruments that tailor our clients’ needs to the transaction. Related to the Firm’s commercial lending practice are the related zoning and entity opinions and advice rendered in order to insure that the Firm’s clients are fully protected in the making of a loan to an entity.

During the period of 1992 through 2009 the Firm closed in excess of thirty thousand residential real estate closings in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

The Firm’s Real Estate Owned and Foreclosure department conducts foreclosures on behalf of clients in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island, and coordinates the conveyance of bank owned real estate transactions in virtually every state in the United States.

Civil Litigation
The Firm’s litigation practice includes foreclosures; bankruptcy wherein the Firm represents lenders who seek relief from The Bankruptcy Court in connection with a foreclosure; business law; employment law where the Firm represents insurance carriers who provide coverage for businesses; real estate litigation; personal injury litigation; and family law. The Firm’s litigation attorneys, including Barry D. Greene, have tried numerous jury and non-jury cases before the state and federal court systems, and have had significant experience before the Massachusetts Appeals Court.

Portnoy and Greene, P.C. represents creditors and debtors in bankrutpcy proceedings. We often assist creditors in obtaining relief from stay to allow the creditor to foreclose on real estate or repossess an automobile. We help debtors work through and resolve a host of financial problems including imminent foreclosure and pending lawsuits or collection proceedings.
